Things have been happening in a shop unit at the Queens Arcade Cardiff since September 2011. It's not a shop, it's a site for artists to interact with... We are now spreading out into two spaces in the same area, Arcadecardiff unit 3b and Arcadecardiff unit 17. The emphasis is on participation and location for unit 17 so in the coming months we may offer specialist art classes which may be combined with city centre visits.
We are an artist led Community Interest Company C.I.C.
Mae pethau wedi bod yn digwydd mewn uned siop yn Queen’s Arcade, Caerdydd ers Medi 2011. Nid siop yw hon ond safle i artistiaid ryngweithio â ...... Rydym yn awr yn ehangu i ddwy safle yn yr un ardal, Arcadecardiff uned 3b a Arcadecardiff uned 17.Yn uned 17, mae’r pwyslais ar gyfranogi a lleoliad, felly yn y misoedd i ddod, efallai y gellir cynnig dosbarthiadau celf arbennigol a’u cyfuno ag ymweliadau o gwmpas y ddinas.

Microworld Arcadia is a ‘living’ art space whichgrows, transforms and evolves in response to
user activity. It heralds a new playful art experience which rewards active engagement. For
two weeks, you will be able to immerse yourself in the emergence of a microworld.
The installation consists of multiple artworks which respond to:
1. the audience
2. each other
3. the gallery space
Genetic Moo will provide a digital ecosystem consisting of:
a neutral virtual space projected over several walls (the environment)
a cyclical light installation (the weather)
an ambient soundscape
We will be seeding this space with interactive digital creatures which will build in number as the show
progresses. Visitors can interact via Kinect technology and also make their own creatures using a
We welcome participation from other artists and practitioners in exploring and experimenting with this
interactive system. The idea is to get as many pieces affecting each other as possible. We are interested
in contributions from visual and audio artists particularly in the areas of interactive, robotic, kinetic, light,
video and performance art. Artists wishing to take part should contact us directly to discuss which day/s
they would like to participate. We have some equipment available, including a projector.
We will be hosting a range of events and workshops throughout the two weeks. By the end of the
exhibition we hope to have nurtured a thriving microworld.
We welcome your involvement.
